Ive been shooting in inclement weather a lot these past few months without covering my m3 and the old SM summitar I have on it is starting to look pretty bad. I blame the weather because ive never dropped the lens, and it just got a lot worse after 7-8 hours of being out in the rain today. The front element has separation on about 50% of it (towards the edges). My question is, what is the chance this will affect my image quality? I cant see anything on my 400 tri-x stuff from today, but I also went through a few rolls of kodachrome 64, and im gonna be sad if they look like ****, especially after a 3-4 week wait

Many thanks for the help. I would normally bug the guys at Kurland or Photovillage, but Ive pestered them enough without buying anything already. although from the looks of things I may be in the market for a new 50 lol

Mine has some edge separation too. Unless it goes in from the edges severely I doubt you'll notice it in your photos. It more likely has affected your re-sale value more than anything else. Forget the new 50 just shoot this one until you do see a difference.

at its worse point the separation goes about 1/2 an inch in towards the center of the lens. Im more worried about the pictures than the summitar. I already planned on loosing my money with it. It's been very, very good to me and ill buy another if this one goes tits up

Thanks for the help, im gonna look at your flickr now
