Leica LTM Summitar the star...

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Wow! Those look great! What an awesome combination - M10 and Summitar.

There's a three-dimensional warmth and creamy quality to them that I love,

Post more if you have them!

Great photos, but I can't see photos with straight lines parallel to the image plane. Can someone with a Summitar take such a picture? I don't have any film in a Leica at the moment, only in a Nikon. My Summitar doesn't fit on that.

Erik.

Erik: Are you just interested in the lens' native distortion? I could take a picture with my M9, if that works. It will be boring, but should tell you something.

Here you go. Uncorrected and demonstrating my poor technique. M9, Summitar at f:5.6, You may have to download the jpg, correct my verticals and then judge. This is a lens I bought from Sherry Krauter about 10 years ago. It does pretty well if not shot directly into a light source.

This was shot with a late Summitar with hex aperture. This copy seems to have a mild distortion near the very edge of frame.

Here are some more Summitar pix from the M9 which show the lens's native distortion a bit better. Like I said, dead boring, but they do give a sense of the lens's behavior. Personally, it doesn't bother me. These are uncorrected, except changed to 8-bit and de-res'd a bit.
