Hi everybody.

I'm in the process of cleaning up some of the photo related stuff I have and dont use in order to put it on Ebay.

During the process I was trying to put some facts on a Summitar lens I have. I bought it as having a M mount, but when I look at the net I can't find any references to summitars with m mounts, only LTM:s.

I fact the lens is relatively good looking but the mount isn't. I kind of suspect the mount to be a ltm to m adapter, but I can't find any way to remove it.

I have some pictures at http://www.carpelux.se/gallery/PhotoGear and if anyone could help me to find out what kind of beast this really is I would be very happy.

If it is a LTM-M adapter it will have rounded places in the edge which will take pliers to unscrew it. My Summitar on adapter mounts slightly offset clockwise, i.e. the marking for the distance scale is turnd about fifteen degrees `too far`I don´t know if that is typical.

That is an adapter on the lens. I would mount it on an M body and unscrew it. Don't force it too much. Pliers seem too drastic. Might damage the LTM adapter or the lens. In the worse case scenario, take it to a repairman and have it removed without damaging anything. You don't want to mess up the threads on the lens.

It's fantastic how easy things are when You have the knowledge 😱

To mount it in my CL and the remove the lens from the adapter was the right thing to do. It was a LTM lens. I had only tried to hold the adapter by hand before. That's how i did it on the lenses to my Bessa i used to have.

Thanks a lot for the help!!!

whatever you do, don't use pliers! You'll ruin the adapter, as I once did...put the lens on a Leica-M and unscrew counterclockwise...not too hard...use a little lighter fluid if you need it...

i once bought a 50mm Cooke screw mount lens with a Leica adapter and used pliers to remove it...I managed to get it off but destroyed a beautiful Leica adapter...

Looking at the backside of the adapter, it's very brassy, meaning that the original silver on the adapter has been worn down over the years and has probably been attached for many years and might be hard to remove...again...DON'T TRY TO REMOVE IT WITH PLIERS...IF YOU DON'T RUIN IT, YOU CERTAINLY WILL LEAVE LOTS OF MARKS ON IT FROM THE PLIER'S JAWS...

Well, maybe it depends on HOW one uses the pliers. I'm a dentist, I should hope I wouldn't ruin it or leave marks😉 . However, if it is really tight it might put too much strain on the mount.... Lighter fluid? Be very careful it does not get into the threads of the helical.

Glad it worked out without damaging anything Chris!
