I'm looking for a strap for my M9 and this looks like a solution.
They also do a 'pro' model for big DSLRs but that looks like it might be overkill.
Not much info out there, just wondering if anyone has experience with these straps

I am currently using a domke 1" with the quick release which is also pretty good.

Cheers

Personally, I use a BlackRapid strap. Same idea, but they have an extra hook between the strap and the camera. I prefer this for two reasons:
- You can easily remove the camera from the strap, without unscrewing the strap from the tripod socket
- You can use other methods of connecting the camera to the strap. Due to the removable baseplate design, Leica tripod sockets aren't exactly the strongest attachment point (these straps are obviously designed for SLRs), so I have a small loop of jumpcord tied through one of the strap lugs, which I hook the strap to. This also enables me to set the camera down without it falling over :)

Hope this helps.

My wife uses BlackRapid and is well impressed. We also saw the SunSniper at photokina (where we got the BlackRapid) and reckon the BlackRapid is better. We both disagree with B.J. Sharp about the baseplate, though: we much prefer the baseplate, which is a very strong attachment point, a good deal stronger than a single strap lug, even though you can't put the camera down flat with the strap in place. I've seen pulled-out strap lugs but I've never seen a pulled-out tripod socket...

Cheers,

Roger, what kind of camera(s) do you use it with? On both my M3s, I can tilt the baseplate slightly front to back when it is fully closed. Doing this more would probably increase the play. (I'm not worried about the tripod socket, but about the baseplate-attachment points) On the M8 and M9, the baseplate design was changed a lot, I believe, and is a lot more solid.

But it's up to personal preference of course.

As I said, it's probably mostly down to preference (the way it hangs also differs depending on attachment point). :) I think that under normal use, the straplugs should be able to support the weight of the camera, as should the tripod socket (it's what they're there for, after all :D )

To the original poster: I can heartily recommend this type of strap. I've used both the single-strap model from Blackrapid, and their vest-like double strap extensively, and greatly prefer them over `normal' straps, for rangefinders and for SLRs.

What brand you choose is probably up to preference, available accessoiries, and personal fit (if you can find a dealer that has them in stock).

I'd agree wholeheartedly.
