I never understood the 'hip' factor of military gear with people who never served a day. I realize it is not logical, but it makes me feel like they're 'stealing honor' that they never earned. Just my 2 cents.

Bill, personally I use these bags because they're great to use. Not because of any hip factor (The US Army is generally not considered all that hip in Belgium). They're just the right tools for the job: well-made, unsuspicious, easy to access, cheap, etc.

Wondering if anyone has tried it. I saw it briefly at the store, seems to have some padding and like it could fit a sizable padded insert. Here is the link:

That radio bag is really nice...might try and look one up here in NYC.

Somewhere around the house, there's a black Army map case I got when I bought my first Hexar RF; aside from needing a tad more padding in the bottom, it was near-perfect in size for a one-camera-and-assorted-stuff bag, and appropriately anonymous in appearance.

Is anyone concerned that these bags might rub the paint off the cameras? Some of the military bags seem kinda rough to me, and you'd definitely have to be careful around those snaps.
