I just traded a huge amount of gear, but I finally have an M7 on the way. Mind boggling amount of stashed gear just left my house, lol. But I'd rather have one camera that I'm excited for than a mess of things sitting in the gear closet never getting used.

From the serial number on it, it's before the optical dx coding, but after the anti-flare upgrade. I had a black M6 ttl in the past, but a chrome m7 was always what I really wanted. Happy to have made it a reality, and can't wait for UPS to show up!

The flare was such a big deal when it was introduced but the VF & flare was the same on the M6 & M7. I bought mine new around 2006 and it's been perfect. I had the upgraded VF and optical film reader. After shooting Leica rangefinders (and SLR models) I can say the M4 with the MR-4 meter and the M7 are my all time favorites.
Leica would upgrade the film reader and VF for free. The finger film reader was very problematic for a lot of cameras so your M7 was likely upgraded by Leica.

Congratulations, The M7 is a fine camera. I’ve had mine for 18 years now. Only needed to have the DX reader replaced which Leica did for free after I had owned it for 8 years. It just keeps going. Enjoy,

I used to own an m6 ttl .85, and while it was a great camera, the flare was annoying when it popped up. I’ve had zero issues with my m240, hope that the m7 will be the same way. The seller wasn’t sure on the dx coding, so I’ll find out once it arrives. I think for weddings and portraits, this going to be a seamless camera to use with my m240.

Woohoo! Congratulations on your upcoming birthday present!

Mine is of a similar vintage, before optical DX reader but with anti flare viewfinder, I think. It was owned by a doctor who hardly seemed to touch it, as it was pristine. Yours looks similarly clean.

Thanks. I forgot I have that site in my Bookmarks. Gonna be a while until I need that information as after about an hour or more of on-line searching I couldn't even find an M7 for sale.

There are 6 on ebay right now, some have really high prices though. I jumped on this the moment I saw a friend list it for sale. I missed one last November, it was before heart surgery and I was just too ill to make the trade happen. I’m glad I waited, I got to keep my 500cm

I just thought about how I worded that reply, and I should have said I searched for places where I could trade for it, instead of paying cash. There is only one camera store within a hundred miles of me, and he's not going to be selling Leica's to college students (he's right on the outskirts of Virginia Tech). Anything he gets that says Leica immediately goes on eBay. Did an eBay search of my own and there were a lot more than 6. I now have a base figure to work from as far as how much I will have to cough up for one. I stopped to buy Lottery tickets on the way home from the Post Office. Anyway, it's not a high priority item at the moment, so it can wait. None of them I looked closely at had the higher serial numbers.

I limited my ebay search to US only.
samy’s has one, they take trades! Looks to potentially be a preproduction model though.

But yeah, they’re not at a lot of shops right now

Saw that same camera on my eBay search. In fact, I think I've seen reference to it somewhere else on a blog some time ago. Or perhaps it was here before the big reconstruction.

Still more than I can rustle up for now.
