Super Ikonta 530/16 Gear Missing

I am glad to have found this forum. I once had a 532/16 and liked it, but had to sell a few years back. So when a clean 530/16 came up on an auction site, I bought it for $59. It really is a nice camera, with one exception. It was probably bought to remove a film counter gear, and then sold. I can use the red window, and get 8 shots. Does anyone on the forum know where one could buy parts? ie, that gear with the small one attached to it, thereby actuating the film counter. I also have a Kororan, I think is the name,(not at home right now), and it takes those small images. 16 on a roll I think. Nice bouquet. I also have a Bessa that I was able to get working. Folders are great. I can put one in my saddlebag on the bike, and it doesn't hurt it. Any ideas on parts? Thank you, Robert

I don't have an answer for you but I will give you a bump. Hope you find what you are looking for. It's great that you can still use it with the window. I really enjoy using the old folders.

The 530/16 is quite notorious for having problems with the film counter gear.
At least you can still make photos by using the red window.
Guess there will be no spare parts left after almost 80 years so your only chance will be a donor 530/16.

I sympathise with your frustration in not having a complete camera. However, using the red window you should get 12 frames on the roll (instead of only 11). {EDIT- please see next post } This was possibly the reason why the gear was removed - possibly decades ago - it's a pity that the gear wasn't kept with the camera!

Frame counters from many cameras of that era can be unreliable with modern roll film, if they are driven by a roller in contact with the film emulsion side of the roll.

For example, I have a Kershaw Curlew III, which has a mechanical 'switch' to connect/disconnect the automatic counter/stop mechanism.
- I first tested the camera operation with a 'dummy' old film that had been found in a camera. The mechanism worked perfectly.
- Then I shot a roll of Fujicolor Pro 400. I had to switch back to using the red window.

- More recently, prior to re-use, I again tested the camera operation with a 'dummy' old film that had been found in a camera. The mechanism worked perfectly.
- Then I shot a roll of Ektar 100, starting from frame 1 in 'automatic' mode, but observing the red window. I had to switch back to using the red window. I will always use it in that mode in future 😉 .

Oh, wait, have I referenced the 'wrong' 530/16 in camera-wiki, which is "Film/framesize: 11 exposures on 120 / 6×6cm" ? 😱 It may, or may not, affect the reason for the gear being missing.

Thank you all for your replies. Using a sacrifice roll, I found a formula that I will try. It seems that 1.5 turns brings me to next place to shoot. Then 1.5 again. It tapers down to 1.25, and closer to 1 turn and a bit towards the last frames. I will have some fun with it. Beautiful glass. The old tessars can produce very nice images.
