I find carrying and shooting any camera much easier with a very long strap. I hang the camera over my shoulder, over the chest, down to my heap and can bring it up to my eye at a yank at the strap. Plus it's comfy and secure and I can maneuver the camera under my jacket, or on my back (to prevent lens bouncing around).
I got a long cotton A&A strap (off their freebie promo bag of all things) and find it so nice that I change it around between RFs and D700 whatever I'm out with.
Do you guys know some good long straps? Simplicity/discreetness are required (plain). A&A ones are nice but pricey for a strap for me. Gordie's are another possibility but their roughness might be an issue (especially with heavier cameras). No Y-straps either.
Of course there are various sizes by various manufacturers, but was wondering if anyone was offering simple very long straps as a standard.

I'd like to hear about it too.
I really wanted the fixed length AA cloth strap, unfortunately it is discontinued.
I recently bought a luxecase cloth strap in extended length. it seems to do the job.

I also like the 120cm A&A fixed cloth straps. I have three of them. At US 40 not too pricey compared to what's out there for Leicas (http://artisanandartist.com/straps/acam102.htm). I also like them because, combined with the same strap in 90cm length, I can carry two cameras on top of each other. Check with photovillage.

I'm not familiar with the strap you are referring to, but unless there is something unique about its hardware, you can probably easily make one up from scratch yourself.
Could one of you post either a link to a photo or perhaps a photo of the real thing?

It's not a standard strap from A&A lineup. It was a freebie attached to a little camera-shaped baggie I got from a nice A&A guy at photokina. Best freebie ever! I Just measured it and i wear it at 140cm! (it's adjustable). Will try to take a pic of it later.
I've heard about Domke gripper, for some reason I don't recall them being that long. Must check again.
DYI is of course an option, but being a simple thing I was hoping someone's already doing it.

you guys were not paying attention when i posted about my super long straps...from gordy.
custom made to the length you want and still only 27 bucks!!
i had 2 made, the first was 58 inches long but it was a bit shorter than i needed so i ahd a second made at 62 inches long and it's perfect!
black leather with black thread, no adjustment for length (but you can have this feature if wanted), wraps easily around the rd1 for easy placement back into the domke 5xb.
a very good looking to boot!

It may not be as pretty as an A&A strap, but the Crumpler 'industry disgrace' is one of the most comfortable and practical straps I've ever owned. Not so much suited for lighter RF's, but for heavier SLRs - even up to pentax 67s it's just amazingly good. I always sling over my shoulder and it's the best strap i've found for that.
