I want to remove the top section from a Leica case for a iiic, preferably to modify it to be removable and re-attachable. Does anyone know if the stitching holding the top section to the bottom holds the main seam of the bottom together, or can I remove that stitching and leave the bottom seam intact?
Any other suggestions on modifying this never-ready?
Thanks for any help.

Some years ago I did something similar.
I seem to remember that once I'd taken out the top section, the stitching on the bottom came undone, and although the case didn't fall apart, I was never happy with the result.
In the end I sent it to a leather worker who modified the camera case and placed a removable strap on it at the same time.
