Survey on the usage of traditional photography

Reading that "Analog (traditional film photography)" is an "Alternative photographic technique" is so shocking that I would encourage my fellow film photographers not to answer such a survey...

:bang:

that is funny:

13. Through which channel did you first learn about the existing of alternative photographic techniques?

Well, when I started to use 35mm film, it was not alternative.
It was without alternative.

:bang:

How is "Caffenol" different from "Analog (traditional film photography)"? They should include "Rodinal" development ;)

Maybe my countrymen should be a bit clearer. 35mm film photography is much less alternative then daguerreotype photography.

I think this is pushing it... caffenol is certainly an alternative process while rodinal certainly was/is traditional.

Few years ago film photography quickly became good alternative to my digital photography, but I'm with you.
In fact, it was no-alternative to me in eighties, only my family FED-2, East German slide film and Sunny 16.
It is traditional photography to me.

They put USA as three zones and no Canada, now, this is shocking

The Caffenol proces is simply another developer - and on the http://www.alternativephotography.com website they state: "We're all about historical photographic methods in use today" - Rodinal is historical, it was patented 125 years ago

Yeah, I think the intent is good, so, I did fill the survey.

idioto loco survey

idioto loco survey

I filled it in..as there is NO Canada, well let's say everything went off the loop.
As they say where i come from, "Hierdie mense is mal..":bang:

I filled out the survey. In one of the comment boxes I noted that I thought it a bit premature to refer to film photography as an alternate form of photography. I would refer to it as traditional photography.

And in fact there was a question on what you personally considered alternative photography...

Collodion is traditional photography too, but pretty firmly alternative now. Dinosaurs like us might consider film normal, but to digital natives it's much more like collodion than photography as they've known it. Chemicals!?!

Being Dutch myself, I easily spot South Africans... :D

That comment is very fitting to The Netherlands nowadays btw :p
