i have to get rid of my M7 anyway cos its a .85 but i am thinking about going to a bessa or ikon

way i see it is i get more functionality and 1/2000 and save some money

i shoot 6x6 mostly when shooting film nowadays so not really bothered what film M I have.

anyone know if there is anything i'd lose out on if i bought one of the other cameras ? They both seem good spec to me ?

cheers

What you lose out is a more hefty/substantial feel, a smoother, quieter shutter, TTL flash metering (with Metz or Leica flash units), no mechanical backup speeds, possibility of using Tom's trigger winders/motor winders, and better build quality.

What you gain is a lighter body, easier to use exposure compensation, a larger viewfinder-- possibly brighter than the M7's. You also need only one battery instead of two to run the Ikon.

I have both and I prefer using the M7. 1/1000 isn't really limiting to me.

I am not a big fan of the Bessa's build quality, but you could probably buy a nice used R3a for $450 and have a lot of money to buy film or lenses. I had one and it seemed like a nice camera, especially if you get the little side grip that allows the camera to hang on your shoulder correctly.
