I recently recieved shipment of a jupiter 3 that i had Brian work over and i have to say i am not sure why i waited so long to try one of these Sonnars.

These are all shot on expired Panatomic-x developed in Hc110

Anyway this thread is just to say that russian optics and Brian Sweeney make a great team.

If I get any more J3's, I think I am going to have to ask more for them! 😀
The first one I put on the forum took 2 weeks and 3 attempts to sell. The last one went in 2 minutes! thet suddenly seem to have become very popular. 😎

The previous 2 I sent out gave the Canon 1.4 a good run for the money once they had been sorted. I must admit though that I prefer the look that the Canon 1.5 gives which is quite different.

Chaser, I really like that first image. Until I enlarged it, I thought "Now, how did he get a shot like that of John Cuesack?" Excellent sharpness and great bokeh. Pan-X is one film I wish Kodak still made.

Brian, that 12th Nikkor 5cm......... is that the one I have now? 😀

No.... That would be the 15th 50mm/1.4 SLR lens that you have now.

The 12th 5cm/1.4 RF lens is heading for France.

And most people thought Kiu was the only Nikon idiot that we had.

Oh, I'm not an idiot, I'm a collector!

I used to think that I was something of a "collector" but in comparison I'm a complete piker! 😉

On another note, I think you've opened a lot of eyes to the potential of the J-3 lenses. Wouldn't it be something if the Russians started making them again but really paying attention to quality materials and workmanship? And the J-9 too? All properly calibrated for the LTM, of course.

Catch 22. If they started paying attention to materials, quality etc the the price would be high, especially as they are now in a free market. They would then be competting with the likes of CV in a diminishing market. They are very popular because they are a cheaper altenative. Get rid of that advantage anfd their popularity will soon dwindle.

Nice dream though 🙂
