Sydney Camera Fair

Let's see, three and a half hours drive to Sydney, that means I have to be up at - 5:30am! Yikes!

Might see you there!

do you know the dates for 2008?

There was one on last Sunday, the 17th of February.
It will be held 2 more times this year, the dates are:
29 June,
19 October
I only found about the one being held last weekend at the very last minute. It seems impossible to keep up to date with any camera markets/fairs that might be happening in Sydney. After last weekends one i want to go to more!

Just want to check...

Is it on again this Sunday, 19th October, at the Glebe Community Sports Center???

Do they have a webpage that I have missed?

Finally, anyone have any experience in selling items there? I have a LTM collapsible Summicron in the 125XXXX range that I am thinking of selling, wondering if it is worth taking along.

I am, but it's not Glebe, it's the Ultimo Community Centre, which is close(ish) to the Ian Thorpe pool.

There are not a lot of "bargains" there, but a lot to see, touch, and discuss. It can get quite cramped, too. Worst value I saw last time was an M5 for $2,200 (ok, it was in reasonable condition). Best value was a new film change bag for $5. I'm sure others have done better, but it's nice just to look, too!

I'm probably going but I'm riding in the Sydney Spring Cycle first so I'll be there late.

It's good for odds and ends and there are bargains to be had; I got my Rollieflex there for $95

ps. I'll probably be in cycle gear that looks a bit tight.

Thanks for the correct name and address details.

I'll keep an eye out too for anyone in bike gear... I'm guessing there shouldn't be too many! :) (What time do you think you might be there?)

I went very late (and I could barely walk from the cycle event), half the stalls were packed up. There were some good end of the day specials on bits and pieces but my heart wasn't in it. I find I need to really plan out a few items that I'm after and set a budget. Otherwise I don't really buy anything. Got a nice braided wrist strap though.

Next Market is March 29 2009.

Yeah i went today and it seemed a fair bit busier than the first event earlier on in the year.
I got quite a few things for a total of only $25.. I set my self a budget of $30, otherwise things could of got out of hand, plus i find it fun seeing what i can get on a strict self imposed budget. I ended up with a couple nice 39mm german filters, a black Yashica MG-1 that cleaned up wonderfully, a perfect Olympus Pen EF that i'd never seen before but now really like, two new straps, and some out of date but still sealed 669 polaroid film. It was quite a fun morning. Very busy though, and some things were extremely expensive.

I havent been able to find out the dates for this year yet.
Hopefully someone else knows, im pretty keen to go again :)

So did anyone go?
Did you pick up anything good?
I went, but didnt think it was good as the last few times i've been. The selection wasnt as good, and there were quite a few cameras still floating around from the last market day I noticed.
I picked up a couple things for pretty cheap though, sticking to my $10 budget, haha.
A Konica Big Mini (been trying to find one for a while), and a little "Panda" Olympus 35 EC. Top is black, bottom is silver. I quite like it :D

I agree - not as good a range, and most sellers still asking silly prices for the good stuff. There was one gentleman with a (rough) Canon VI-T with a good 50/1.2 mounted - for AUD$500, which I thought was very reasonable.

I blew my gas budget recently on a couple of lenses for my DSLR so I didn't go. I'm sure the super duper deal of the century would have been there if I had gone with no available cash.
Maybe see you guys on July 5?

Just for future reference the dates for the 2009 Sydney Camera Market, as printed on their flyer handed out last weekend, are;

5th July, 2009 and 18th October, 2009.

Ultimo Community Centre
(Enter via Bulwarra Street, Ultimo)

...picked up a couple of very good books cheaply including "Contact" and "Theory: Portrait" by Lustrum Press. There were a lot of people when I arrived, much more than the last fair I went to but no gear of interest to me.
