Sydney Camera Market....

....was today. Went in with a couple of mates.
Not huge, but still fair sized. About 40? tables of gear, everything there from LF to submini.
My mates picked up a nice Canon GLIII-17 and a Yashica Campus, both in good condition, for good prices.
Some nice Canon rangefinders, a VI-T, and a 7 with the 0.95 lens, as well as a few of the earlier Leica copies. Prices on them not a bargain tho.... :( Plenty of Minolta hi-matics and Yashica Electros.
Lots of Leica gear too, of all vintages. Even a fair amount of FSU stuff, but I'm not going down that path!!!

Medium format is getting pretty damn cheap over here, a lot of the pros seem to be ditching their MF gear for DSLR's. Definately the time to be picking up a Mam or Bron 645.

Also some real bargains on old semi-auto SLR's.

I did OK, got my 35 'cron (a black 3rd model in v good cond), plus picked up a 85/135mm finder and an ERC for my Contax IIa. The finder is a neat bit of kit, it fits over the VF/RF so you don't have a seperate VF. Never even knew they existed..... (Yeh, I know, I was selling the Contax....)

All in all a fun day. Just a shame it was 40 deg C here today!

Tim, wanna trade places for a week or so?
It's about 5 deg C here today, cold and sunny... :)
Not really inviting for outdoor shooting. That's why I got me a stash of 400 ASA film to last through the winter :D

Denis

PS: any pics? Even digi shots would be nice! Just curious...

Sounds interesting Tim ! The only antique camera fair I know in Spain takes place in Huesca, around 400 Km from here (long distance for an European ;))

Then there are the 'Encants', the main flea market in Barcelona where you can find all kind of odd things, unfortunately cameras usually go for ridiculously high prices there and most of them are non-working, or 'too hot' items...

The Sydney Camera Market, is it held on a regular basis and where? I just want to file that info away in case I get a chance to get back there. BTW just loved the visit to Sydney.

Ummm....fairly regularly, 3 or 4 times a year. It's in a hall at Ultimo, about 30? minutes walk or a short taxi ride from the CBD. The next one is on March 20th (I think)
Denis, sorry, no pictures. Was carried away actually looking for stuff. And I had a camera round my neck too.....:bang:
5 deg C? Well, maybe. The problem with it being 40 deg is that it's too hot to really do anything. We ended up yesterday afternoon just sitting in a bar having a few beers in an effort to cool down. It's a tough life......

Thanks and if you have trouble staying cool you could always come over here for a snowshoe holiday. Wish we had your trouble with the heat.
