So I posted over on photo.net, but figured I'd try here as well
So I've got myself a lovely GW690III, which I love to peices.
Trouble is, the T settings fails sometimes. Everynow and then, I like to take long exposures, and on multiple occasions, after my desired exposure time has elapsed, when I move the timing ring to trip the shutter, I don't get that "click" you're supposed to get when the shutter closes, meaning that the shutter closed right away.
The result is (on a bad day), every second shot comes out blank.
This is particularly fustrating if it's a very long exposure (over four minutes), and the wasted film is a bit of a drag too.
Is this a common thing ?
Is it repairable ?
Help !
Oh, the normal shutter speeds work fine, btw.

I haven't noticed that on mine. You aren't accidentally touching the transport lever? That one will also close the shutter on T.

Definitely not.
I'd say between 30-50% of the time, the shutter closes prior to my intervention when using the T setting

I bought one once that had that problem, so I returned it. I took it to me camera repair guy and said it was from excessive wear in the shutter mechanism.

Hmmmm ? purchase source...

Did you purchase the camera from one of the many Fuji 690's offered by Japanese sellers. The number of those camera's are growing by leaps and bounds. It's possible it may be one of those many cameras that did tour photography duty. Hard to know the actual shutter count and abusive usage.

I purchased it from KEH, and for the large part, it's been great.
It's definitely outside of the return period.
When I get time (and $$$), I'll see if there's anyone in Australia who can service these things.
Any guesstimates on how much servicing costs ? Any other things worth getting serviced (like rangefinder alignment) ?
