Here's the least cr*p snap of the first film (Lomo lady Grey 400) that I put through my Ricoh 500GX:

Click on the thumb to see the full-sized one.

Considering this is the least cr*p snap, (ie. the best from the entire film!), I think it qualifies me to be the first official member of the "Talentless Bozo's Club".😱. I suppose my membership No. would be TBC1.

So if anyone else want's to join, you're going to have to show us your best pic which is still cr*p, and it does have to be your best pic, and it still has to be cr*p.

Is the 500GX any good? I know nothing about it. But a friend is mailing me one to repair for her. Wondering how much effort it warrants to save. There weren't a lot of them on eBay when I had a look last week. Sorry. Off topic.
Cheers

I don't mean to butt in, but I have the Ricoh 500G, and it's one of my favorites. The 500GX is essentially the same camera. The lens is great, and the ergonomics/haptics are good, with a decent viewfinder. A properly working copy (light seals often need to be replaced) should be very satisfactory.

Thanks! Must make a note to do the light seals before I return the one I'm repairing, that's a good point.

As the 500GX seems to be a normal 35mm camera, you obviously cropped the picture to get a square picture. I assume you did this on your computer (?) - why not straighten the picture before cropping. Making it a nice picture IMHO. You're not yet in the Talentless Bozo's Club just yet 😉

Sorry, already a lifelong founding member of the "Cliche, Formulaic & Derivative" Club, The CFD for short.

I think I'm in that one. I do take pretty post card shots. But also, in recent years, I seem to have developed a liking for the "Stephen Shore photos of not much of anything" school of photography.

I did 'straighten' it, I just used the edge of the table as the 'level'. I decided to do that as the camera was laying on a table. I did try a couple of other 'levels' but there were slanted lines in all of them and I preferred this one.

I didn't really crop to get a basically square pic, I just cropped out the 'pointless space'.

@Huss, Nope, I think she was just doing her shopping. At least, I've never seen a gladiator wearing woolly hat.

@radi(c)al_ cam, Nope, not fishing for compliments, just stating my claim to be 'El Presidente for life' of the "Talentless Bozo's Club". 😀
You really don't want to see how bad the other shots are. There is one which now doesn't look all that bad really, and does now show what I was trying to get but it's still ain't a good pic.

It's going to be quite a bitch of a job, btw, assuming this one needs the seals replaced. Most of the rear door is covered in light seal foam, and if that has turned to goo, needs to be scraped off and cleaned. Great for a rainy afternoon...

I'm intrigued now. I must confess a minor reason I tend to stick mostly to German camera repairs is that apart from the odd piece of black yarn they mostly devised ways of light proofing cameras that did not involve bits of foam that would deteriorate over time. 😉

I always longed to win Bozo The Clown's cart full of toys. Sadly New York never had its own local Bozo franchise.
The best we could hope for was a crappy snake in a can on Wonderama. Or to see Bob McAllister's toupée fall off.
