I'm looking for one of those ultra light tripod that i can just leave it in my messenger sling bag along with my rangefinder and some other stuff like a book and what not.
So I came across this one:

I'm curious is anyone has/use one and if it is good enough to hold a rangefinder (yes I know a DSLR would be problematic), say Leica M2 with a Nokton 1.5 of sort?
(my other voice in my head is saying Noooo dont do it if you do not want your cemera to kiss the floor) ... emm...

I use an Ultrapod II. Small and secure but need a ledge or wall to be really useful.

Do you have meter? Set it at 71cm and try to frame and focus M2 on it. I just did, I find it difficult. At 80cm it is OK.
I have Tamrac bag and it is with me every day for five or so years. Adding normal sized tripod is not a problem. One legs goes into the shoulder belt and tripod stays secure and balanced in parallel to my body.

Oh, the legs are tent-posts. For those who don't backpack, those are the same segmented poles used in backpacking tents. Great for tents, but they flexxxxx. I would expect this tripod, even with the poles modified to be stiffer, to be wobbly. So, probably not good in for long exposures, or multiple exposures (e.g., HDR), or in windy conditions at all. Probably good for selfies with fast shutter speeds and low wind speeds.
Let's see if the reviews suggest otherwise.
I keep a table-top tripod in one of my bags. Not great for every situation, but has been useful here and there. Its a copy of the Leitz version.

The reviews soon ok for occasional use where I wouldn't take a normal tripod. I avoided the taller one because I thought a smaller one would be slightly more stable and more compact. It looks like it's at kneeling height which is ok for me. I'll post some thoughts when it's here.

Got it - really like it! Very light and compact. It fits in the swing-out part of my mind shift Horizon backpack. It's kneeling height, so may be a bit limited if you use tripods a lot, but will be fine for the occasional shot.
