Where can I find the 3M Heavy Duty DoubleSided tape mentioned on Rich C.' site? I can only find the Heavy Duty mounting tape that is thick spongy foam. I assume the right tape is just really sticky cellophane tape right?

Thanks!

Can't help. but I have used very thin stuff before so I assume this is what he is talking about.

My rubber grip material threatens to peel in one or two places so once off, it stays off :)

I am very close to sending away for some nice leather from camera leather to give my R-D1 a makeover. Just a little concerned abut all the lumps and bumps that will need to be covered. I'm thinking the thickest stuff he has might do the trick.

I'll see if I can dig up a part number or some identifying data on the roll I've got and post it here for you.

The cardboard core says "3M Core Series 2-0300." I googled that and didn't get anything very specific on what exactly that product is....

The carpet tape is much thicker than the stuff I got from MT. To the OP: I wasn't suggesting trial and error, I was suggesting a phone call to avoid a $35 mistake.

Is this the mounting tape Rich Cutler mentioned?
Has anyone tried it?

That is the thick stuff - it is clear but real thick. I think I found what Fred was describing - though it isn't just glue it is very thin cheese cloth like with extremely strong glue. It is Duck brand "Heavy Traffic" Carpet Tape. This is better than the original glue which always starts to loosen.

I just taped the edges of my grip with gaffers tape. For some it might not be that elegant but I'm surprised how well its kept the rubber in place.
