Never taped one up. Any recommendations for someone who is concerned about residue from tape. What is the cleanest least damaging?
I was thinking a premium gaffers tape:

I know some make red dots black. Has anyone just removed the red dot and left off? What is underneath?
What was your experiences.
Thanks.

Under the dot, there is an opening for vertical adjustment.
You can't just leave it uncovered.
I took off my dot, painted it black, and placed it back.
I don't need it to say "leica"...

Replace the strip of gaffers tape every year or so, it leaves a white hard residue when it dries up.

Leica should start selling their own tape.

I used a good grade of plain black electricians tape, the adhesive that might be left is easily cleaned with alcohol.

Leica should start selling their own tape.
I probably wouldn't be able to afford it.
