If I buy a 2nd hand camera and lense from Denmark and Finland, do I have to pay any tax whilst taking the delivery? iirc, i don't have to. But can anyone please confirm me about it.

cheers

I know in Canada, that any used items could be taxed on the value listed on the package.

Sometimes it's just a duty, tax or both

Sometimes things just go through with nothing applied

All depends on your countries import laws

Check your countries Customs web site, but if low enough in price. Might get away with nothing applied.

$4000 value - they won't look the other way

Don,

If the item is imported into Canada and isn't taxed by the CBSA, you still have to self-assess all tax and duties and remit them to the appropriate authorities. But who does? Not many.

I imagine it's the same in the UK: be charged or self-assess and remit all applicable taxes on the full landed cost of the imported goods.

Assuming you're in the UK, no tax or VAT apply if it is a 2nd hand purchase within EU. Buy new, and VAT applies, unless it's a business purchase and you're VAT registered within EU.
