hi all
How does one develop tech pan nowadays (lacking technidol)?

I got rodinal and diafine in house, and i have access to xtol and amaloco film developers.
I would like "normal" contrast level.

Any experience? And what EI with the developer you would suggest?

You’ll Also find a fair amount of data on the massive dev chart listed under “discontinued films” as well as a couple of time/EI combinations on filmdev.org.

Here is the way I do it:

John Carter
Kodak Technical Pan Rodinal
I was given three rolls of 35mm Kodak Technical Pan (expired 2002). I hunted around for a development scheme and finally settled on this. Mostly because I had Rodinal. I'm only posting in case some of you still have some in the fridge.

16 EI

Rodinal 1+150 for thirteen minutes

Agitate with 30 seconds initial inversions, then 3 inversions at 10 minutes,7 minutes,4 minutes, and 1minute counting down. (every 3 minutes)

Regular stop, fix and hypo.

I used 5ml of Rodinal in 750ml of H2O. That gives less than the recommended 10ml of Rodinal but the negatives really look great (full tone scale).

I had to figure out a curve profile as I felt (and still do) that the midtones were not right. Technical Pan is also a dust magnet; lots of healing tool. Even with Rodinal there is virtually no grain.

EDIT:

With this last roll I used a Yellow filter which made life easy to post process.

Thanks. Did not know about td-3!
I have a few rolls in 120 format waiting in the fridge, probably i'll try rodinal the John Carter way fist😉
36 rolls just sold on the german ebay(not to me), for some 8-9$ a roll. Expired 20yrs ago 😱

i bought some td-3 and used it. i got what i called typical glycin rings in my highlights so i stopped using it. it did work, but i wasnt happy with the results.

best I have used since then has been C41 developer. cheap if you have it, easy and great results. 70 degrees 7.75 minutes ISO 32.
