In both photos you got the shutter speed exactly right to give the illusion of motion. Very nice!

Dave, I have a pristine Tele-Elmarit. It has that near-perfect clarity which characterizes all great Leica lenses. It is said to flare a lot, but that hasn't been my experience. I finally bought a 12575 shade anyhow, as much to protect the lens as anything else, although it does look cool, and it is reversible.

A couple of images from my gallery here below. I have the "thin" TE and l like the lens which is wonderful for travel. These pics were taken on a trip to Madrid last year. I also have the same lens hood as Richard and it seems to have completely eliminated the lens' propensity to flare slightly.

Good choice of shutter speeds in both photos, I like the look too. I use the Canadian version with a hood and could not be happier with the results. Paired with my 35mm pre-asph lux it makes a compact travel kit.

The skinny Tele-Elmarit at its worst (wide open at closest focus). The DOF is very shallow, of course. I focussed on the outside edge of the nearest petals.

Taken with the thin TE. I really like the lens, but I've had problems with unpredictable flaring quite often, too, despite using a great big hood on it.

I don't often use my "fat" Canadian Tele-Elmarit, and find only two rolls that have been scanned, both ancient bulk-loaded Ilford XP1 with push-processing. I think the scans aren't the best either... but here's a couple doing some concrete repair to the front walk of their rental property. (Bessa-T) Oh, some great shots above!

Here's a size comparison of the 90mm fat Tele-Elmarit with the 50mm Summicron. It's a very compact little lens. The horse shot was made using it wide open at f/2.8 and around 1/8 sec with panning.

At infinity focus the thin T-E is about 3/4" longer than the latest Summicron 50.

I also have the thin Tele-Elmarit and mine too will sometimes flare unpredictably, even with a deep hood. I really wish this problem could be cured, because otherwise it's a great lens. The size and weight are just perfect to drop it in your pocket for travel. Obviously I encounter this problem most often when shooting straight into a very bright lightsource.

It would have been nice if Leica had re-issued a APO, ASPH, whatever version of the 2.8/90 Tele-Elmarit, instead of the recent collapsible 4/90 Macro Elmarit

I'm a little late, but I just developed a roll with some TE images.

First attatchment: TriX, 1/15 @ f/4

Second: TriX, 1/30 @ f/2.8

Both are straight from the scanner, too lazy to mess with them.
