Hey,

If you can add a UV filter to the X100 via a male to male adapter then it must also be possible to slam on a teleconveter to get a more flattering fov for portraits.

Has anyone tried this and found something of sufficient quality? Perhaps in the Pentax line?

I've been googling and only found things that attach to the camera body in between the body and lens :/

Has anyone tried using a teleconverter on the X100? I am tempted to buy one and test!

JSU - I also had a "yashica"-period including the adapter set with both a "tele" and "wide" converter. Not great but I did use it a lot... It would be good to have something like that with proper optical quality to the X100!

I'd be worried about the added weight.
The X100 might create an illusion of a Leica but it ain't.
It would have to be very light. Maybe Fuji will put something out...

This thread on x100forum.com inspired me to buy a Panasonic LWA-52 (.75x) wide-angle converter. It's designed for Pana's LX5 but sits happily on my X100 giving me a FOV equivalent to about 26mm. You do get distortion shooting brick walls, and sometimes the corners look a bit "fuzzy", but mostly it seems to give quite good results. I think I'll be happy with it.

Next, a 1.4x converter of a similar calibre... Any suggestions?

Hmmm...started reading this thread and I suddenly remembered I had my old Olympus IS-1 stashed away. I remembered I had a tele and wide converter for it. I dug it out and sure enough, they are 49mm threads. So, here are some completely non-scientific shots of the Olympus A28 HQ Converter 0.8x (selling on ebay for about $35.00US) and some shots taken with the converter to give an idea of field of view.

BTW, that's my recently acquired Yashica GTN with wide converter and Tele/Wide viewfinder!

Here are some quick-and-dirty scientific brick walls shot with and without the .75x Lumix adapter:

The distortion looks quite impressive here, but less so in real life shots.

This seems like a viable option to get a wider field of view out of the X100. Those shots don't look too bad.
