I have a Leica Telyt 400mm f5.0 lens which I would like to convert to a telescope by adding an eyepiece, diagonal (that turns the light through 90 degrees), and adaptor.

The lens has a male LTM (Leica Thread Mount) tube to screw into the camera, but the flange to focal plane is 28.8mm - not enough to fit in a diagonal and eyepiece. I have been advised that one needs about 50mm.
However, the whole back of the lens, the focussing part, can be unscrewed and removed. This reveals a new flange which I estimate to be 123mm from the focal plane. Ample room.
Now, can anyone tell me what the threaded connection is? On the lens it is male and I have measured it to be 63.9mm outside diameter (probably 64mm nominal) with a thread pitch of 0.742 mm (0.75 nominal?) which equals 34.25 turns per inch (34 nominal?). Leica (actually Leitz when the lens was made) would mix metric and imperial. For example the well-known LTM spec. is a Whitworth thread, 39mm diamenter, 26 tpi!
Any Leica historians out there to give guidance/comments here?
