My M5s need red dots!
Something I wish I could buy... either to replace my current S2 or to join it (even though I have only ONE Nikon S lens).
Since I won't be able to swing it, here it is, for those interested... BTW, the seller is quite reputable: KEH.

It appears to me they have the same camera on their website for $1800.... an outlandish price, which is unusual for them. $989 is a bargain however. I wish..........

I think they lowered the price. Not enough... yet. Oh, well... Best of luck to the fortunate buyer!

Have a look at the curtain photo, is my impression or curtain is in very bad condition?
NIKON KIU
Did you say Nippon Kogaku
It's a user camera waiting to be used again, the Titanium curtains are a bonus.
Under $900 is truly a bargain.
If somone wants it outside US, I can do the honor!
I'll buy it and ship it for you. But you have to pay the shipping.
I'll even test it with film!

Why do I continue to look at this thread? Last thing I need is to get into a new system.

If only they had one in black that was, relatively speaking as much of a bargain...

I really don't like chrome cameras.
There is now someone in France who has specialized into repainting rangefinder cameras black.
The cameras are stripped down, all chrome parts are electro-chemically dechromed then the brass is degreased with the proper solvent then covered with primer then painted with epoxy oven baked black paint. Just what Shintaro does. No hidden secret there.
And of course the camera is then reassembled after all the former black markings are professionally redone in white.
His very satisfied customers all tell the paint quality is on par 100% with what Shintaro does.
I know him personally and you can trust him 100%.
I don't know if he has tackled any Nikon RF camera yet, but so far he has painted black several Leica M cameras and some Canon P and 7 ones.

The trick with painting SP's black is to remove the rivets on the back, paint it, and re-install the back.

Of course. Same trick with the S2, S3, F.

You can see some corrosion on the hub of the self timer , also the chrome lens mount and bottom edge of back .
Camera has lived in a humid , damp environment at some point in its life .
Humidity effects the optics in the finder , it looks clean from the shots posted - biggest problem would be possibility of haze or fungus .
Keh has a good return policy .
As my friend says they buy everything ,they are great on returns .

Highway 61,
Thanks for the tip.
I went to his website, and while my francais is rusty, I didn't read anything there about the repainting of cameras.
The other photos you gave the links to are indeed beautiful, but again there seems to be no link to anything I could find about his business of repainting cameras. Could you provide that?

High Highway,
Impressive work from this painter, do you know about how much an M2 or M3 paintjob could run?

Jacques has just started over his cameras repainting business so his main graphics/teaching website hasn't been updated with this yet.
But this is the very same person so to contact him personally the first link I provided displays whatever you need.

For repainting a Leica M2 or M3 he's asking 600 euros, flat (this includes a new covering and some fine dents/dings removal before the camera is painted). Total time spent on a lone camera is more than 20 hours so this sounds a very attractive price to me.
