TEMPTATION
There's a 1979 Kiev 4a on e-bay . Nothing special except that it is a TOE
import into UK with English box / Instructions etc - mint of course .
It is also sister to my TOE 1979 Kiev 4 and I like pairs [ ASdee ]

I have not seen one so complete - and these cameras were all checked over in UK . Not only that how many 1979 cameras of any kind come with box etc ?

Would you indulge @ £32 or so ... ?

.... A very expensive late and compromised Kiev ... but ... I did not CLA the Kiev 4 and it still works well , maybe it's just a nostalgia thing !
I wonder if these cameras were used a lot .

True, an earlier one might be better, but I know and I'm sure you do too, that a good working Kiev4a is actually worth far, far more than it's "market value".

I have a 4a that I would never sell for it's market value, it's just too good a camera!
That said, I am using my Leica IIIc more at the moment, mostly because of it's collapsible lens and pocket-ability.
I suppose the most compact lens for the Kiev is the Jupiter 12 (35mm).

I WISH there was a collapsible 50mm for the Kiev.

There is Micky D - I have a collapsible Sonnar coming with my Contax III .
I am going to go for it !

Comes with some Contax cameras - look out on e-bay - but not cheap.

Looks like the bidding is hotting up

I got it for £50 all in , less than buying from ex-USSR - I just could not resist seeing the camera and case in the foam padding in the box - as clsoe to new as I am going to get ?

.. now what do I do about the dirty 1957 Kiev 4 with plain meter cover - pass ???
It's UK too @ less than £50 BIN ... it's just the 1st issue ... deecisions ...

In retrospect , a near as new Kiev has to be special ....

Takes me back quite a few years - to when I bought the last new one available in my town, I think it was £28!, but I did'nt keep it very long, I just did not like that serrated focus wheel, it reminded me of a cutter for my Dremel mini-drill! :), but the camera did give good results.
Dave.
