Tenba Messenger bag insert, short overview

Simply wanted to share with you that I just got one of the Tenba messenger bag inserts. It really is not expensive, something like USD 23 or so and it is a lot nicer than their own product picture shows. I have seen camera inserts from others brands, but they are either more expensive or don't have the possibility to customize them.

The compartments you can customize by moving the dividers (they have velcro sides) . You can actually make 5 vertical compartments (4 dividers) Two of the vertical dividers also have a velcro strip running over the whole length so that you can divide that compartment horizontally again if you would so wish. Two of the dividers have a flap so you can actually "close" the compartment your created.

Extremely customizable, good padding (I would estimate 6mm thick) on all sides. Dimensions are: 33 x 22 x 12 cm (lxhxd), it can stretch to 20 cm for bigger, bulkier equipment. It easily slides into my old messenger converting it into an undercover camera bag.

I have no relation to Tenba, just wanted to share a cheap solution to an everyday " problem" .
 
Sounds very much like the insert in my Crumpler Dehli XXL. Only problem is that the insert only comes with the bag. I've had a good look at the Tenba Messenger, and I've not yet bought it, but must admit its a nice piece of kit.
 
This is great. I use a similar solution as well, but with a 2-divider (3 pockets) Domke insert. I can put it in either my Scaramanga leather satchel (Medium, I believe) or in my Parcel, ripstop messenger; neither of which look anything like a camera bag. Either configuration holds my OM-4, 28/3.5, 35/2.8 and 50/1.4 with film and I usually can carry my Fuji Klasse in one of the other pockets on either bag.

I went out shooting last week and took my Horizon 202, OM-4 + 50/1.4 and 35/2.8, a couple rolls of film and my Fuji Klasse and it was perfect.

These inserts are a great way to convert and older bag to a camera bag. Even a nice laptop bag will work well.

This is *the* insert to get if you want to convert a messenger bag to a camera bag.

Fits a small Courierware comfortably; tighter on a small Timbuk2 but it works. I divided one side compartment diagonally into two triangular spaces that fit RF lenses perfectly. You can stick a camera and two lenses in this thing and still have nearly 1/3 of the space free (as two small or one larger compartment). The insert is lightweight (closed-cell foam, not neoprene padding!) and soft enough to allow your bag to flex a little.

It really is the perfect messenger bag camera insert IMHO.
 
That does it. I finally know how to adapt a Maxpedition Larkspur bag to being a daily user bag.
 
I personally dont like dedicated laptop or camera bags with lots of padding so I have used a Tenba insert for years with a Patagonia messenger bag and now with a Jack ***** bag. Put the laptop in a sleeve and use the insert for the camera gear. It works really well! I can easily carry the M8 (with a lens attached) and my Pany G1 (with zoom attached - for wife to use) all in the same bag. Nice and discreet.
 
I don't get no resect. I wrote a few words about the insert & the bag it comes in. Zip response.
I'm glad the OP likes the insert. The insert lacks small dividers for stacking lenses. I use small foam squares from other bags. The insert is almost perfect.
