Love the framing and timing Nick!

But, the contrast is very high on my screen. Did you intend super high contrast? First and last image lose a sense of depth because of the high contrast, to my eyes.

Helen, of course you are quite right w. regards to style. In B&W I love high contrast too and enjoy most of these images, except for said first and last image where it is too high to my taste since a sense of depth suffers.

So I thought I'd inquire about artistic choices made regarding these two. Might give me food for thought!

I agree the photos are a little too contrasty. I think this is mainly because my pro lab does very good scans for me, but small resolution, and so when I then edit them it increases the contrast/loses detail. I am going to scan my favourite ones myself once the software on my new Plustek 120 is working, so I can scan some big negatives and play around with them a bit without losing detail, as I want to include a couple in my Rome 'Cafe City' book.

Erik - I was going to say I only have the 2 iPhone pics of the black iiic on my blog at the moment - I shall take some proper ones sometime when back in London. It's not an original black paint iiic - it has been repainted. But extremely well. I think by a Japanese guy who specialises in this, but I don't know. It means it looks almost new, without looking fake. And that meant it was at a decent price. I also have a repainted black M3 which looks like it was meant to be black and works perfectly. I think it is possibly the most beautiful camera in my collection.

Magnificent set. Love all of them. The visual appealof the subject and the vision of the photographer are nicely balced to produce a series of photos that capture the placce well, but with a distinctive approach. My hats off to you. I would be interrsted in a 'zine of this work.

Chilling - the aesthetic attraction (of texture, light and shadow framing beautiful black and white) soon gives way to the cold geometries of the place. The last photo brings that point home for me - and I would say also that taking that one took balls.
