Tetenal E6

Ah, yes, thanks - that sounds like it makes sense.

Another question that has sprung to mind (and many thanks for all the help so far), is what is the shelf life of the Tetenal chemicals? The 5L kits are much better value, but it would take me a while to shoot 60 rolls - though the break-even point is probably around 30 films (and if I'm on a colour-shooting trip to Thailand I could quite easily come back with that many). Also, I guess the lower cost of the 5L kit would make it more attractive to do one-shot processing.

The limiting factor (as you would expect) is the first dev. Here is the life, from the instruction book:

Opened concentrates, 24 weeks; mixed dev, unused, 8 weeks; 50% used dev, 2 weeks.

Obviously 600 ml one-shot allows 8 runs from 5l = 40 rolls in a CPE-2.

Cheers,

R.

That's brilliant, many thanks - 24 weeks for opened concentrates should be more than enough to fit around the way I shoot.

And 40 rolls one-shot from a 5L kit sounds like the way to go.

So, I think that's my plan - depending on how many rolls of E6 I get back to the UK with this time (it probably won't be many - I'm mainly on a B&W trip this time), I'll either do one batch in a Paterson tank to see how it goes, or maybe just start looking for a CPE2 as soon as I get back. (There are two going at the moment, so I'll watch those to get some idea of price).

Thanks again.

I buy 1 liter kits, and make 0,33 liter working solutions. With that I get 4 films. 5 could go just as fine and I think sometimes I've done 5 films with same amount.

You could indeed make 500 ml and use it for 6 films...

Our Jobo tank takes only 2 35mm films at a time, which needs 270 ml. 2 120 films on same spiral or a 220 takes 330.

We at our schools club also add rinses in between the baths, which I think, makes the solutions keep cleaner and last longer. We havent needed to adjust the color casts, maybe finnish water is better? :)

With the air pushed out, the solutions last a month or couple very well. Also the stock chemicals have been used now for 8-9 months and are still ok (air pushed out of the bottles)!
