I just purchased a Tewe finder and I can't wait to receive it. Had one once, sold it, and regretted it ever since.
I also have a Russian? made finder, exact and I mean exact duplicate of the Zeiss 436/70 finder. Same configuration, same mask shape, same quality, same orientation, and even the chrome spring detent on the side is the same-no hole. I purchased it several years ago, in a fitted leather case-not a plastic jar-along with a 5cm soviet lens that looked like a sonnar but no date or other markings-there was something written on the trim ring but not the common stuff. Well, the lens sold for quite a bit on eba despite the fact it was covered with cleaning marks. Lots of bidders. Could the finder be of any value too? Stu

It's not a Tewe. Tewe was a German company. What you got there is a Russian Universal Turret Finder. It's a copy of a finder originally made by Zeiss.

That said, it's rather good, with very accurate framing. I use mine on a FED-2.

JJW, I just combined 2 posts in 1. I known that's not a Tewe. I was just saying I just bought a Tewe. I was just curious about the vintage of the Russian finder, as it has very distinct differences from others I've seen, namely the masks and other small details. I was thinking quite early as the lens I bought it with was 1940's vintage. Stu

Is that the Tewe that was on ebay last night? It was on my list, but I forgot to freakin' bid. It looked nice. Rob, didn't you sell a similar finder here awhile back, or was that a T.O.C...

Do you know which Tewe you got? They came in a variety of focal length ranges.

Mine's a 35-200, but I think there was also a 28-135 which would be spiffy to have...

It's an ebay 35-200. Had one and I loved the zoom feature. Sorry I sold it. I didn't realize till I googled it that Tewe makes the viewfinders that most movie directors use.
