I will be heading to Thailand, Nepal and Cambodia in November for pleasure. I am somewhat familiar with Thailand and will be visiting friends in Nepal for three weeks but don't know much about Cambodia.

In Thailand, we will be primarily in Bangkok and perhaps down on the beach. The temples look amazing and I remember photographing there in the early 1980's. Am open to suggestions as always.

In Nepal, I am visiting friends who run a large public health NGO. They have lived in KTM on and off for 8 years. He is a semi famous mountaineer. Besides exploring KTM, I will probably do a trek and perhaps a bit of whitewater. Again, any hints or suggestions would be welcome.

I know very little about Cambodia (except charges of secret bombing campaign by Nixon helped lead to his resignation). Angkor Watt is at the top of our list and a couple days in the capital.

What should I not miss? I will be travel for part of the trip with my daughter and will keep the cameras simple (M2 21/35/90 and Ektar).

Not sure if the followings is your cup of tea......

If I go to Bangkok, I love to go to their markets...... Pak Klong Talat, Klong Toei to name a few.
Make a visit to Ban Baht or Monk Bowl Village, said to be the last community in Bangkok that still make the alms bowl the traditional way. Finding it can be an adventure by itself.
I love going up and down Chao Phraya....... in the express boat, and jump off at any pier.....

I'm doing a very similar trip in 4 weeks time, so I'll reply back with tips for Cambodia when I get back!

From the research I've done, the stuff I'm looking forward to are the temples at Angkor (main ones I want to see are Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom & Ta Promh, but we have 5 days in/around Siem Reap, so we're going to see as much as we can in that time), also Bokor Hill Station near Kampot (an abandoned village which has a royal residence, hotel, church & various other interesting buildings), as well as the caves around Kampot.

I'm sure there's more, but those are the main things off the top of my head...

Am leaving LAX on Nov 5 for 3 weeks in Nepal (whitewater, trekking and KTM), ten days in Thailand (Bangkok and Chaing Mai) and a week in Cambodia (Phnom Pen and Ankor Wat). It looks like one of the airlines has a 15 kg weight limitation so I am thinking this might be a digital only trip. I just purchased a X100 and have a Dlux 5.

So, give me some ideas which are not in the Lonely Planet guide book.
