I was in Canvey Island yesterday (UK's equivalent of Coney Island?) and I didn't see the sun all day . Strangely, I also had with me a Canon 50mm f1.2 with a red filter (on a recently acquired M4) - the sheets of rain, the red filter, and what looks a layer of chewing gum on my patched up shutter curtains made sure my curtains remained ok. No need for a cowboy hat. Still, I think I would like to live in Las Vegas.

Sorry to hear a few sad stories... I have not done this myself, but long ago when working in a camera shop, I borrowed a used Nikon S2 from the shop and found a group of pinholes burned in the shutter. It had sat propped up in a west window, on display. Ooops... 🙁

I always turn the aperture ring to the minimum size, wherever I am, for safety.
