It is time to acknowledge Kodak for its commitment to bring back iconic film and I don't know of a better way to do it than to just say it:

I am ordering both the new Ektachrome and the new TMax film in support of the company and all of the dedicated employees of Kodak.

Who will be the first to start an official "New Ecktachrome" thread?:):):)
 
Right you are, Dave! Indeed, Kodak needs our support. This new Ektachrome product gives them a needed foothold in the color transparency market that they once dominated! Fuji has owned the E-6 market in recent years and it is important to note that Fujifilm can weather ups and downs in sales of various emulsions as all of them are beneficiaries of the enormous market for Instax products.

Now that our resident Kodak hater is no longer around, there is no need to avoid saying good things about Kodak.;)

It would be great if more folks would sign in here on this thread and encourage Kodak, and yes, they do check this forum along with others.:D
 
I honestly didn't miss P3200 when it went away because I wasn't shooting much fast film anyway at the time. Delta 3200 filled in nicely when I did need it, and of course availability in medium format is a huge plus for me.

But now P3200 is back and man I love that stuff. Shoot it at iso1000 or so and the results are just wonderful and grainy too. And it's somehow cheaper than Delta3200 in the US which makes it an easier decision for me. It's great stuff, and so fun.

As for Ektachrome, Kodak has it right when they claim one of the benefits of slide film is having a handy color reference for use while scanning. It's true of all e6 products and a benefit to me as I have some color blindness, making it more difficult to properly scan c41. And there's nothing better than holding up a slide to the sky.

It's great that these films are available again, and I'm impressed that Kodak isn't back on their heels in the face of a diminished market; rather, they're investing heavily in marketing, reintroducing new products, and making a good effort to earn the business of both younger and older customers alike.

Well done, and keep it up!
 
I think it's really great that Kodak Alaris is reinvesting in film production and am really happy that they have brought back these two films I've pretty much switched to shooting BW film and digital color (or occasional C41) but will give Ektachrome another whirl. Thanks Kodak!

I sent a IG story reply to Matt Stoffel saying "Thank to you and all the Rochester team for this". It's particularly great for ciné shooters. Never been close to S8 or 16mm but I've an idea that would be great to shoot, no time or resources for it however...

Actually got more than enough film (lots of Kodak Color Neg) but hope for a camera club buy so I can get a bit of Ektachrome. Who knows if we'd have E100 in 120 before Xmas? That'd be great food for the Texas Leica.
 
I've shot lots of Kodak film over the years (1958 on). There slide film has held up the best, B&W has never failed me and it just kept getting better. More power to them, I'll keep buying it. I not saying others are inferior, and I've used them I still feel at home with Kodak.

It is also (IMO) the best expired film too.

Thank you, but no thank you. I ain't rich enough. Will finish my expired Kodak slide film with my "students" and I'll be done with it. Until some of young ones will ask about it :).
 
Ive bit well into my pitiful student loan to order 10 rolls! I cant wait! I develop myself and mount in slides and cant wait to project it!

Kodak are increasingly winning my heart here!
 
Gotta admit I can't wait to try some. I did shoot some just before they originally discontinued it years ago and I preferred it to the Fuji e6 stocks.

I agree! And I'll be even happier when they bring back Plus-X!
 
I never was a slide film shooter back in the day, a little color negative now and then. B&W is where I live, and would be glad if Kodak would spool up some 5222 100' rolls at competitive prices, and even make some Pan X.


That being said, I can't wait to try new Ektachrome, and hope by adding my dollars to the initial rush, it will spur Kodak and other makers, to be confident in the resurgence of film.
 
I am mostly a B&W shooter, but I am really looking forward to trying the new Ektachrome. Just in case someone from Kodak is reading this, I will say that, while I buy a fair amount of 120 film, I buy very little 135. So I'm hoping that 120 Ektachrome is in the works!

This is where I am. I have pre-ordered five rolls of 135, but what I really want is Ektachrome in 120.



(And one of these days, I still hope to get a 6x6 projector!)
