I was wondering if I should finally just give up on Film, and my trusty Leica M4. There is going to be a camera show this weekend, I was ready to pack it up and head out... then I stumbled upon this forum.

After reading a little, and then more and more, a change of heart came over me. I took out my old friend, and held it, grabbed a roll of film from storage, and went out, and I was in love again.

I am so grateful to those who posted to this forum, for clearing my eyes and head again.

Next I have to get out my Speed Graphic, and all of the SLR equipment from my late father and see what else I lost over the years.

It is a good feeling to "rediscover" equipment that you already own, avoiding the cost of new gear GAS.

There are many good reasons to visit RFF, that is just one.

It is good to be reminded of my own early wonder at this forum and how much I have gained from it: learning the marvels of film, and different films, the exposure properties of them, the supreme position of the M2, the character of different lenses of the same focal length, the brilliant Leica alternatives, Zeiss and Voigtländer lenses, and the Leica M5, the Hexar AF and the Rolleiflex, one of each bought from here, and the gumption to blow several grand on an M9, and, most importantly, the extremely high standard of photography in the Gallery. Thanks.

Welcome aboard - and thank goodness you found this forum before you did something you would have come to regret! Here's hoping you will spend some time here and become a regular.

These wondrous little machines that we call M cameras are more than devices for catching images. They are masterpieces of glass and metal. They have a presence about them.

An august camera such as the M4 is a healing balm for the hand, the eye and the soul. Since when did RFF help anyone avoid GAS🙂

To the OP, shoot and enjoy. I'm currently looking into multibay network attached storage and I can't help but think that having the film image in a file is so much easier. Slower, but only you can decide if that is important.

Sure there is the typical trolling and nastiness that happens, but much much less than on any other forum I have been a member of.
