I was in NYC for Photo Plus and I contacted Rich at Photo Village before I left about buying an M8.
After Photo Plus Friday I went down there and Will helped me make the change from film to digital with the sale of my MP and the purchase of a silver M8.2 along with some lenses and accessories.
They gave a fair price for what I was selling, and it was a unique shopping experience - personal, friendly - even fun.
Thanks.
Looking forward to using my M8 tomorrow.

I have bought 2 cameras and tons of other stuff. Great place that I should avoid if I was smart. But I am not.

Indeed fantastic folks at Photo Village. Rich and Will are tops in every way. I've gotten a few things there- always via phone/email, and Rich handled the dealer side of my a la carte and Will gave me a call when I was looking for a .85 M7 when they had one come in.

I really can't say enought about how well they treat you because they understand people, the buying process, etc. When they handed me the lens I was considering buying, they sensed I was having trouble making the decision and actually walked away from me and the lens, giving me time to think and to sort it out in my head. A little space and time was just what I needed to think, and I bought the lens.
I'm sure we've all had the salesman that plunks the item down on the top of the display case in front of you and says... "Well, you want it or not?" as they don't even look you in the eye because they're eyeing up the next customer behind you. Or the guy that hovers over you because he's afraid you'll grab the lens and run for the door! And we probably didn't buy from those guys.

You must be shopping in the wrong places - this never happens to me. What you describe as "how well they treat you" - is a normal shopping experience. But than again, maybe in NYC things are different.....

I echo all the previous positive sentiments about PhotoVillage, Rich and Will. Great place, and a wonderfully unique boutique. Anyone interested in rangefinders/Leica, in particular, HAS to make a point of visiting when in New York.
