Thanksgiving wishes from 2021

I took this photo almost exactly 2 years ago as of tomorrow. This fella was expressing his Thanksgiving Day feelings with a big message.

For those of you who don't know, Thanksgiving is a traditional US holiday dedicated to families getting together to show their thanks for the good things they have. But like many things, it has become crass exploitation and marketing with big sales and gluttonous stuffing of faces with unhealthy food and the drinking of alcoholic beverages. Meanwhile the family thing often turns into arguments, animosity and long term feuds. Sometimes bloodshed and law enforcement.

I'm all for the family thing but without the avarice. I intend to stuff my face today like many but I won't be partaking of any holiday sales events. I will ingest some alcohol in celebration of what good things life has brought.

For you poor folks who are being forced to participate in Thanksgiving Day activities of questionable intent, here's that fella from 2021 again with his message:

One of our best decisions as a couple was when my spouse and I declared that Thanksgiving was ours and we weren't doing anything with anyone. It became one of the most relaxing holidays for us. That move is, obviously, not for everyone, but it's worked for us over the past (nearly) two decades.
