So I've been active this weekend and shot and processed 3 rolls of film through my M3 with newly bought Summarit f1.5. Yesterday, as I was lining up a shot in the market, someone nudged their companion and said "That's a proper camera". Here's the picture I was taking:

Today, as I was buying coffee in the park, a chap told me it was nice to see photography being done the right way and as I passed the church in the way home I got talking to a chap who had an R-D1 around his neck but wanted to congratulate me for taking pictures the right way.

It seems film photography, as least in this part of Hertfordshire, is coming to be regarded as the authentic way to do it.

Anyone else get similar comments when out with an old rangefinder loaded with film?

People generally ignored me completely when I lived in the UK, but now... I too get quite a few comments when out and about with the M3. Partly I think it's because it stands out being chrome - I quite like this sometimes since it makes it abundantly clear what I'm doing, so doesn't seem so sneaky, but it does have (a lot of) downsides.

Strangely wandering around Harvard Square is where I've had the most comments - usually I just let them play for a bit and they're happy. Funnily enough the first week I was here I was lying on the ground to get a better angle (I do this a lot - never wear clean clothes!) and a guy did come and talk to me - turns out he used to have an M4. He actually said that I would get a lot of comments round here using one of those - and he was right.

So mixed bag, I quite like some of the conversations...
