At last!!! I got an RD. Didn't have to pay the usual fee (as in the bay) either ;)

It's one pretty looking camera. The size is between the SP and the RC (actually much smaller than the SP and only a tad bigger than the RC).

The meter even works pretty accurately (not that I care :) ).

I haven't managed a good shot of the camera yet, but I have written a little in my blog.

So, as usual, if you're even slightly curious, head on to here.

Btw, here's a teaser :D :

I am stalking an RD right now, but if I weren't I'd definitely be scowling at you right now, Will. If I don't get the RD as I'm hoping, to, I will be even more jealous and I swear I will hunt you down!

Oh.... Nice pics.

Hi
Just picked up a 35RD on echo bay too. Goodness knows what condition it will be when it arrives. When it arrives!!! We have a postal strike and the seller won't send it by courier. So I have to wait for it to go into the post tomorrow, and then it could take a week or so to arrive. Vexing!
Funny how several of us are looking for similar cameras all at the same time!
So I won't let on what I have in my mind at present
- clue -
its German, but not as you imagine, and its non rangefinder fixed lens.

Lucky you mine had a short life before its shutter jammed....now I am waiting until I can afford to have it repaired. I even bought a new tobplate as it has a distinctive ding up there!
Enjoy it and post results......Reading it at first I thought you were writing of an EPSON RD 1!

Andrew: Thanks for the compliment. I hope "interesting" is a good sign :D

Earl: Hey, if you get the RD, your SP would be jealous.

Jesse: Is it a Contax RTS III?

Spider67: I hope you got it fixed, I think the RD is worth it.

Shadowfox- Your link seems to have been hijacked. Or maybe I just don't get it?
Looks ok to me. I tried it this morning.
It's the same link as the one in my signature.

Thanks for the warning.

Add to that the fact that most of them from the bay has problems with oily shutter diaphragm. I consider myself lucky to get this one without a problem. Didn't pay ebay price either.

Hi Shadowfox
Got the camera range OK - you know your cameras! I'll let you know if I manage to get what I am looking for.

Back to the 35RD - you sound as if you have a good one.
I've just got a quote of £38 for a CLA which included dealing with the lube on the shutter blades. Of course P&P both ways puts up the price and then there is the dreaded tax of 17+% to be added on cost and one way post. Still doesn't strike me as being a bad price - and the firm know what they are coping with because they just did another 35RD.

Nice shot. The only problem I find with non-SLRs is judging DOF: unless you're experienced and you know what distance/lens/aperture combo will give you what results, it's pretty hit and miss, though good control of DOF in that picture without a doubt.

Jesse: Yay!

Olyman: Thank you. Actually, the 40mm lens on this camera is pretty forgiving DOF-wise, that shot is wide open f1.7 since the lighting is downright abysmal that day.
