THC, no, not that kind. Taylor-Hobson-Cooke

I've found a black plastic cap that fits exactly over the Chess United. I've made a small hole in it so I could tie it to the camera with a string wich I did. But what a fantastic lens it is, years ahead of its time. Maybe never surpassed. Congratulations.

I agree that the lens is something special. And while I do believe that phones will swamp cameras, and soon, the phone will never have the qualities of that Amotal. I am currently using a '51 KMZ Jupiter 8 just to see how it works compared to my '57 (a honey) but I believe I will be wed to the M9/Amotal for as long as they last.

I know we all gush about lenses and there is the Uebermenschengruppe who laud all the glass out of Wetzlar, and Zeiss has done well often, I am very glad I found an honorable seller with a pristine Amotal. Many, many years ago I had a small sailboat I sailed on San Francisco Bay. A dock mate had sailed the same model boat for eleven years. I asked him how he liked it. His answer? "She'll always get you home." Those are the best words about a boat. The Amotal is like that. It does not disappoint.

I have admired those prints before. I'd post them more than once of they were mine. I might even plaster them around like billboards. Great captures. Prosit.

Mine is one of the cheap eBay "pinch to insert" caps. Popped right in like it was made for the Chess.

I just shot some pics with the lovely '57 KMZ Jupiter 8. It has interesting solid color, very accurate but it also always looks like the color has a slight adjustment that needs to be made. And I have the Amotal which always seems to be right. So why take pictures with other than the Amotal? Yeah, my thoughts exactly. The Cooke is back on the M9, with its new Chess lens hood. Look out, world!

Nighttime shot of the American Empress which cruises upriver from Astoria. Leica M9, Cooke Amotal, f/2.0, 1/12. I love what the Amotal does with light. It does seem to have a special, magical touch.
