Thank you members of the politburo!
We are big step closer of unveiling secret of decadent western photographer Genri Cartyer Brressonn.
This picture taken uder verry risky circumstances by our spy satellite "Voskhod" hence the quality clearly shows method of western so called street photography. Brressonn is using 3 cameras!
Comrades soon our Camera production quota will have reached a level were we can equip our photokors with 4 cameras thus enabling them to surpass Brressonn's quota by 30%. After spaceflight we will soon surpass capitalist streetphotography by "SSSP " Soviet Socialist Street Photogarphy!

Rumour has it that HCB had a 35 and a 90 with him but primarily - whatever that means - used the 50. There are pictures showing an Elmar 50 on his M3, there are some others showing a summicron or -lux. Whatever he did use, important is just one thing: do you like his pictures or not.

What next? The "RFF members only speak English myth"?
Why is people's initial misinformation followed-up by revelation of common knowledge a "myth"?

Don't you ever have anything usefulness to say except silly one liners which make you feel clever but they're rather annoying and teenagerish.
if you have nothing usefulness to add, please save us the key strokes.

Ironic, isn't it, that so often when we think we're talking about others, we're really talking about ourselves.if you have nothing usefulness to add, please save us the key strokes.

Yes, HCB himself actually claimed that much of his work was with 50mm, and he despised anything but the full negative in print. As far as being dapper and looking like he was dressed too formally, you should know that as early as 3 decades ago people actually dressed appropriately. HCB was dressed normally for the time & place (in the original post)...not all flip flops, ball caps, jeans falling off, exposed navel's, etc.,
I'm not that old (30's), but I love looking at old family albums, movies, etc., -- seeing women walking down the street with high heals, matching hand bags, smart dresses & gloved hands. Men wore 3 piece suits with watch & fobs, and hats...to go to the post office, or grocery store...not just for formal occasions like weddings, or work...I wish JFK never took off his hat!
I absolutely cringe when I see adults wearing flip flops off the beach or outside of the locker room, or men—young or otherwise "expressing" themselves with baggy jeans, ridiculously hanging off their arses. When did this become acceptable?
When did you become an authority on fashion? I'm not saying that I disagree with you about the baggy jeans, but what the heck is wrong with thongs? (flip flops) Sure, you wouldn't wear them to a black tie event, but why should we wear suits all the time as you seem to suggest?

Well, it has to be better than "sportswear", worn by people who not only conspicuously underindulge in sport but also conspicuously overindulge in high calorie food.

I went round the HCB Scrapbook exhibition a couple times last month, and I'd put money on a mixture of lens lengths having been used.
As for the cropping thing he clearly didn't have a problem cropping shots in the early years, you can see the edges of the prints and many are not in the same proportions as the negatives and differ one to another so must have been cut down.
Well wourth seeing the exibition by the way the mix of "draft" versions and the finished prints is revelling, and how far we've come since 1947 is amazing
a couple where I got lucky with the exposure

It's summer here too where I am, and my feet will be properly shod--unless I am at the beach or in the shower at the gym. Careful you don't drop a can of soup on those flip flops, and save your money for fututre back sugery and chiropractor bills...don't say someone didn't warn you.
Seriously--enjoy the summer!

Enjoy Life.
I didn't know Scrapbook was touring. I saw it at the Foundation Henri Cartier Bresson last year in Paris. Was a nice collection from a different time. Did you enjoy the exhibition?
