The Actual Focusing Distance on Contax T

Hi All,

A quick question.

The specs for Contax T give a minimum focusing distance of 1m and yet, at least on my camera, I am able to hit the minimum focusing stop slightly below the actual 1 meter marking on the lens. Is the camera able to focus slightly below 1 meter then, say at 0,9m? Either Contax have given a rounded value OR the markings are mere estimates OR my focusing ring has somehow shifted.

What's your Contax T like?

On both my Contax T, the focusing ring stops just a tad below the 1m mark. So, I think yours is perfectly normal.

I am trying to finish a horizontal rangefinder adjustment. I had over focusing at near distances when I first got the camera, it was slightly short at infinity as well. After the adjustment I am getting some under focusing at near focusing distance but infinity objects are absolutely spot on in the viewfinder. Now I know I need to pull it back a little but I would like confirm it with the minimum focusing distance as well.

Assuming that the top bar of the letter "T" on the top cover also marks the film plane; would it be possible for you to measure whether the actual minimum focusing distance corresponds to an actual measured 1 meter distance when you bring the focus ring to a physical stop? The object you measure the distance to also has to appear sharp in the viewfinder. That would give me a point of reference, especially that you have two cameras.

A bit of trivia: turns out that the minimum focusing distance is in fact 92cm.

Hi,

On my 1930's 2 it goes a little past the 3ft mark. And 3ft is roughly 92cm so a little beyond could be 91cm. Thought I'd add to the confusion...
