Just popped down to the PO to collect my light meter from evilbay. What ruined that lovely cozy feeling of receding GAS was seeing that the sender had scalped me on the postage! Okay, it got here, but I paid (a lot) extra for assured international delivery and the greedy b***er sent it standard. I sent him an e-mail and he replied that he is not the guity party...its the Royal Mail who are the baddies...they "Promised me they would put on the extra postage later  "

Then I opened the other packet that had arrived....A gordy's camera strap. Beautifully made, friendly correspondence inside the high quality packaging, International delivery included in the price. Thanks Gordy, you've turned my frown upside down.

I'm a firm believer in Karma. Gordy will surely live a blessed life, while the penny-pinching postal pirate will ... erm .. probably poop his pants. a lot!

He said that he paid £4.50 assured international delivery. Because he was sending it to Bratislava I guess he thought he'd get one over on Johnny Foreigner. Thing is, I'm an ex-pat and former postal worker, so I know he is scamming me. It's not a lot of money, I just find it sad that people would stoop so low to grab just a few more quid.

evilbay lets you set up your shipping that way, which is not bad for low cost items. I've gotten in the habit of asking very detailed questions about shipping costs. I agree, this slug took you for a few pounds. USPS folks never go back and put extra postage on it, they do it when you are watching. But as evilbay has it, the buyer is SOL once again. I've noticed sellers like this do not give you feed back as soon as they get your money. Good sellers give feedback once the check has cleared. The buyer is held out to the risk of if we give bad feed back to a seller, we will get dinged for no reason other than telling the truth.

With all it's warts, evilbay is still better than it was shopping for RF stuff 15 years ago.

Too true, I am now going to heed the advice of another RFF member and set up another ebay account. Then I will have one for selling, one for buying and not be held to randsom over my 100% reputation.

The usual trick is to charge for packing as well as postage.
Which is fair to a point. Stuff I sell, it usually costs a couple of quid for the bubblewrap and a box or whatever - especially before my purchases built up a stock of such supplies 🙂

With that, I have yet to not lose money on p and p in a sale because I'm too careful about not overcharging 😀
