Today, I collected my 1st black and white roll of test photos captured on the Olympus Trip, I am amazed by how sharp the Zuiko 40mm 2.8f lens is.

I am half-way through my first roll of Oly 35 RC, will compare the difference soon.

ps. sorry...i know the Oly Trip isn't exactly a RF...

I developed my first roll of 35RC snaps yesterday, and the pictures are no less astounding.

Dome Cafe, snapped at 1/15s and f2.8, ISO 400, XP-2

some interesting observations:

* Being so small and unobtrusive, people weren't really concerned that I was snapping away

* All my pictures came out very sharp, this is a distinct advantage of the Rangefinder camera versus SLR, with my SLRs, images weren't always sharp.

* Lastly, being so light, I found that snapping at 1/15 and at full aperture wasn't a problem unlike the handshake problem with SLRs.

cheers!

actually, I do have a picture for comparison 🙂

Took this in October at Dome Bishan, with a Summicron-r 50mm, I believe it was 1/30s and f2.

I meant to say earlier, that with rangefinders cameras, I can be very accurate in focusing, whereas with manual SLR I can never be 100% that I at the peak focus.

cheers!

And it's quiet compared to many SLRs. And small enough to be carried around...

Perhaps the SLR problem isn't as much handshake (although, there is that problem!), but moreso the mirror slap?
