Is stuff like that whale jaw bone salvageable by anyone who walks by, or is it state regulated? That would be a cool thing to have in one's den ...
On a beach in Washington a group of students unearthed a buried whale skeleton and mounted it on a steel framework in the dunes above the beach. The school had to get special permission to do this because all beached whales, living or dead, that are on U.S. coastal beaches are property of the federal government. It seems a little strange.
