M5.
First Leica with TTL, 25 years before they managed to do it again. Last of the hand built Leicas. A Lwica masterpiece that was poorly marketed and arrived at a time when pros had migrated to Nikon and CNon SLRs.

While the ignorance about the M5 puzzles me, I'm happy that it keeps prices low. You can pick up a beauty for $1000.

invest the money in loads of film and free-time/travel to put the MP to good use. good pictures are priceless compared to another metal jewel around :)

My suggestion would be an SLR with a 50mm macro and a 105mm f2.5/2.8. The MP won't do close ups or macro easily and is not great with a telephoto. I would add a plain prism Nikon F.

Yes indeed it is 6 years or so, but some of the advice proffered is timeless.
Especially those who suggested SLR with prime telephoto or macro as
the MP is not as good here and those who suggested FILM as the best companion.

I´ve got a Leica MP and search for a true companion for this mechanical masterpiece.

I need your opinions (without financial aspects) because I don´t know which way to go.

Any advice is welcome!

A good lens of your choice and a good eye.

I carry a Black MP .72 and a Chrome M6TTL .85 in a camera bag. Right now the MP has a 24/3.8 and the M6TTL a 50/1.4 along with a 72/2 in the bag as a third lens.

. . . . . so I voted for the M6TTL.

Good luck with your decision.
