We used to hang out a lot together when she was younger ... parties etc though we were never a couple. She stumbled over me on FB about a year ago having not seen each other for fifteen years and to my delight we still get along well.

It will be a pleasure to do something like this for her and she'll pull it off fairly easily as she's aged very well. 🙂

high heels.. frilly or polka dot intimates.. seamed nylons.. hard light (off camera strobe?).. some music to set the mood, a few glasses of wine and a whole lot of fun! Sounds like a dream assignment Keith. I have a 75 years young friend who's got enough energy to put far younger women to shame - a 50 year old is just a twenty-something at heart.. I have no doubt that, being a friend, she will relax with you, fall into the role, and some magic will happen.

I have to confess that I had to Google "Bettie Page" -- and I have to confess that once I did, I remembered the pictures. There's an enormous difference between the outdoor shots of her and the indoor ones. The indoor ones are a lot more "tarty"/"Readers' Wives", right down to an almost trademark shadow on a too-close background -- about as far from Hurrell as you can get. Are you shooting B+W or colour? For the former I'd suggest a Rollei; for the latter, a cheap zoom to re-create the "camera club" ambiance of so many of the indoor pictures.

From the look of it (the hyperbole in the descriptions), she was a LOT better known in the USA than in Europe. How well known was she in Australia?

Not that well known here I supect Roger though we are more aligned to US tastes than I'm comfortable with at times! 😀

I have a photographer mate who is into glamour pin ups and he told me about her ages ago. I agree some of the pics are pretty rough but even in those she has something special IMO.
