The movie Civil War raised a lot of discussion for many reasons, one being the cameras that were used by the photojournalists played by Kirsten Dunst and Cailee Spaeny. Dunst used a Sony A7r II with an adapted Leica Summilux 35, and Spaeny toted the Nikon FE2 with 24mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4.

The movie itself is a decent watch, and tells the story of civil war from the perspective of the journalists following it. Interesting that they were given these slightly unusual cameras/lenses, as the Sony would more commonly be used with E mount lenses, and how many photojournalists use film as their primary format these days?

I saw it twice, the second time because my wife wanted to see it, so I watched with her. I really enjoyed it both times.

How about Dunst's protoge's mobile developing kit? No sign of a timer, fixer, or stop or rinse water. And her temperature technique made me wonder what temp your chemistry would be when stored next to your skin. But it worked; her pictures were wonderful.

Dunst's husband role was brief but chilling. Such an incredible actor.

That's Jesse Plemons. He is an excellent actor, going all the way back to the TV show Friday Night Lights.

Sure, loveable Landry.

I’m surprised more folks here haven’t see Civil War. A road trip movie, two war photographers, and a government overthrow. What’s not to like?
