The contest deadline is here. We are no longer accepting entries for the RFF contest. Shortly we will select 10 entries from the many that were submitted. These 10 entries will be displayed on the forum where you will be able to vote on your favorite. The entries will not list the Author name. The intention is to keep the author anonymous to avoid any favoritism. If anyone mentions the author name of a specific essay anywhere on the forum, that entry will be disqualified. There will be a voting period of x number of days. Afterwards, the essay with the most votes will be selected as the winner. Should that winner not be available to receive the prize the next article with the 2nd highest votes will then be chosen. Oh yes, the winner has 5 days to reply to contact attempts from RFF. If you have SPAM blocking turned on in your email, we cannot guarantee that our email will reach you. Since RFF gets hundred of emails on a daily basis, we will not be able to respond to automated spam blockers asking us for verification.

May the best essay win and thank you for participating in the forum.

Sincerely,

Jorge Torralba

Umm, the rules say midnight on the May 31st. For this half of the planet that hasn't arrived yet. I'm not trying for the prize, but you should at least follow your own rules if you don't want to be arguing this one for a long time.

With respect,
John Shaw

To the SLR vs Rangefinder contest. I bet it's a lot of reading!

Absolutely No Identification of Authors

Absolutely No Identification of Authors

Jorge, I see the rationale for eliminating entries whose authors are named anywhere on the forum, but could you extend that to include the person who did the naming (if they themselves are an entrant)? It seems to me that the one in the wrong is the one who has done the naming... The poor named author is more sinned against than sinning (but I do agree with you that it would skew the results and shouldn't be allowed).
