The countdown starts

Leica NJ received my M7 yesterday for the VF and DX-reader upgrades. The former is to be done in NJ, the latter in Solms. Given the experience of others, I don't expect to see it again until Spring. 🙁

Since I usually take the M7 whenever I leave the house, I feel kind of naked without it. However, now I have an incentive to mount the 75mm Summarit on the HRF. Not a bad fallback position.

Why would Leica break down and reassemble the camera twice? If it's going to Solms because Leica NJ doesn't install the optical reader, doesn't it make more economic sense to just do the whole job in Solms? Did Leica NJ tell you the work was going to be split between the two facilities?

I agree totally; it doesn't make sense. But they said that, indeed, the job would be partitioned between NJ and Solms.

Leica has my 75 Lux and M8, I'm hoping to see them both back in the next three months.

I'm pretty sure that Leic NJ doesn't do the optical DX reader.
