Avenon, Komura, Kobalux LTM The Definitive Komura & Acall thread, post your photos!

Avenon, Komura, Kobalux lenses
I was just perusing ebay for Nikon S mount lenses and found this komura 35mm f/2.8

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sankyo-Koki...71680508?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item3a7509cffc

Seller says there is a focusing error and from the looks of it, I'd say that the focusing helicoid is one thread off. You can see how the inner helical/focusing cam barrel sticks too far out the back of the LTM.
If there is a member out there with some mechanical ability and courage, this shouldn't be a hard fix. If I had the cash, I'd buy it. (BTW, I have no connection with the seller.)

Interesting lens!

It has a different barrel design from the other 35/2.8 I've seen, funny. I'll include it in the list in post #2

Steep price to start, US only sale: I'm out! :)

Today added the Asanuma King 35/2.8 and 35/3.5 lenses to the listing in post #2.

Nice find Johan!

I finally managed to find the correct hood for my Acall 35/3.5 (Johan's old lens) after much searching. I think it really compliments the lens and improves the looks and handling. It would seem that it takes series 5 filters which is cool but I don't have any so thats something else to find! Anyway, I'm pleased with the hood and I think that it looks cool on the M2!

That is looking great, Simon!

I will have another look to find a hood myself, seems I still have the fat-finger issue :bang: with my little Komura...

:D

HEADS UP! 200mm Komura LTM

HEADS UP! 200mm Komura LTM

I was just looking on ebay for things named Komura in Nikon RF mount and I found this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KOMURA-200MM-F4-5-FOR-LEICA-M39-RANGEFINDER-COUPLED-/190713206988

Hurry up and someone in the RFF family buy this! I'm not shooting Leica much anymore but for years I looked for this very lens. Of course it shows up now at an insane low price.

Let me know who gets it! I'd love to see more shots from this cool and very unique optic!

Combine that lens with the Komura 2x teleconverter for LTM and you would have wished you were using an SLR camera instead of a rangefinder camera.

Sankyo also made a 200mm finder attached to a RF magnifier. It's called a Range-Magner: the finder that slides into the shoe has an extension that fits over the eyepiece to magnify the view/rangefinder. I have one, but don't have a picture of it.

The 200mm lens together with the finder and magnifier work well, but really are best at longer distances with good time to focus properly (a tripod helps a lot). For anything close, you have to stop down a good bit to ensure good focus. It's fun, but no match for an SLR.

Cheers,

David

Hi David,

I'm getting more and more curious about your collection of Komura and Sankyo Optical stuff! Can we see some shots, here or somewhere else?

Sometimes wish I had not sold that chrome early-model 80/3.5 Sankyo Optical lens but then again, I'm happy to know it's living with you now...!

Shots of the gear? Or, shots with the gear? I can take some digital snaps of various Komura stuff I have, but I don't keep much track of which lenses I use to make photos.

Sometimes wish I had not sold that chrome early-model 80/3.5 Sankyo Optical lens but then again, I'm happy to know it's living with you now...!

Thanks -- it fits nice in the collection, and it's nice to use once in a while.

I listed a Kyoei Super-Acall 135mm f3.5 on the "under $100 for Sale" section. It shoots well, but I have a Canon 135 already. Here is a shot taken with it, another in the ad.

Slightly OT:
Does anyone here use any of the Komura SLR lenses? They appear to have offered a very few fast lenses like an 85mm f/1.4 in Nikon F mount. Of course they cost just as much as a genuine Nikon 85/1.4 but I'm wondering about the performance. Anyone use one? On top of that, does anyone use any of the very long lenses of theirs? I'm thinking 300mm or longer, of which I can only find reference to a few.

I'd like to see some info on that too and possibly pictures! This thread has been hibernating waaay too long anyway! ;)

Heads Up: Rare W.Acall Kyoei for peanuts!

Heads Up: Rare W.Acall Kyoei for peanuts!

Check this one out:

A rare 35mm 3.5 W.Acall Kyoei for peanuts! Only ever seen one like this before, a nearly identical lens sold on eBay Belgium a few months back for pretty much the same price.

Currently I cannot afford it and it would not see enough action with me since I recently received a very nice 35mm lens for my Leica II's, so I'm sharing this with you guys! Ready for the plucking! :D

well..here's my Komura 35mm F3.5 lens i picked up last autumn. I have seen other 35 F3.5s but i've never seen one quite like this one. The lens has so much character. It is also a lens I will likely never sell. The last time i took this lens to Adorama, there was a crowd of people around it admiring it....that was pretty cool for an obscure japanese lens from the 1950s/60s.
